A really fun and playful collection of exhibits. It's just a series of square rooms with a sprite in the middle, but there's some inventive ways you use music, sound, and UI overlays to help the visuals create different moods and atmospheres.
I was originally just going to play through a few of them, but wound up playing through every room on every night because I was having fun exploring these mini worlds and was excited to see what I would find next. Nothing overstays its welcome because they're all one room and you can leave anytime you want.
Well done!
Hey thanks! I really love your Bitsy games. They're some of my absolute favorites. Thanks for checking out our stuff!
I fell in love with the original SOUP over 18 years ago and was captivated by how it evoked so much by using so little. The SOUP-like format is a true triumph of minimalist digital expression and I love seeing people explore its strict limits. I feel like digital spaces are often severely underappreciated and misunderstood. Sometimes, simply getting to exist in a digital space is enough, even if (or even because) there's "nothing to do." Who needs goals or achievements when the place itself is its own reward?
If you're curious, I've been keeping a list of SOUP-likes that are available on Itch: https://itch.io/c/4548354/soup-likes
